Mutant Vehicles: Recycled Rainbow Mutant Vehicle Guidelines

From The RR Department of Mutant Vehicles:

A mutant vehicle is some kind of motorized or human-powered contraption of transportation. At its best, a mutant vehicle has the power to amuse, entertain, or confound. These. . . things that we have made also fit the theme of this event in that they have been mutated from something else; the 1985 Oldsmobile into a giant teacup, or the bicycle into the mobile light show. Ultimately, this means that some kind of modification is necessary. A stock Camry ain’t no mutant vehicle, even if it has weird seat covers. A stock bicycle to ride from camp to camp can be tolerated, but come on! Live a little! Glam it up, weird it out!

Each mutant vehicle will have to meet some simple requirements for the safety of everybody who attends:

• They gotta have lights, for safety, and dammit, it should be at least slightly creative.
• Prepare for leaks [leave no trace], and if it’s motorized, try to keep the visible pollution [i.e. smoke] to a minimum.
• No open flames on the vehicle, also for safety.
• You still have to pay the re-entry fee if you go on a gas run.
• 5 m.p.h. speed limit, just like dirty-hippie-the-burning-man.
• Tire tracks count as leaving a trace, so watch the mud.
• If you’re driving/biking/motivating while drunk or stoned, the Spotters are gonna notice, so don’t.

When you bring your mutant vehicle to Recycled Rainbow, a member of the Department of Mutant Vehicles will check your contraption out and give you your official RR 08 DMV sticker, which means nothing but is very pretty.
