Recycled Rainbow: Mutation (September 25-28, 2008)

Required Reading: Your Responsibilties As A Recycled Rainbow Participant

NO VEHICLES, EXCEPT MUTANT VEHICLES DRIVING AROUND ON THE CAMPGROUNDS

You are permitted to drive your vehicle to your camping spot and keep it there for the duration of the event. You are permitted to drive a radically altered vehicle slowly as long as it meets the Department of Mutant Vehicles requirements. You are not permitted to drive your unmodified car, motorcycle, atv, golf cart, or motorcycle-type scooter on the campground during the event. "Mutant Vehicles" (also called "Art Cars") are vehicles that have been radically modified into stunning works of art for the purpose of enhancing the environment. (read more about mutant vehicles) The campground where Recycled Rainbow is held is not sufficiently large to host a large number of art cars and we do not expect a large number of them. If you would like to bring your art car to the event, please do!, you must, however, register the art car with Recycled Rainbow Art Installations (using the available form).

LEAVE NO TRACE:
NO TRASH CANS, DUMPSTERS OR LITTERING

There will be no trash cans provided at Recycled Rainbow. Truck it in, truck it out. What you bring to RR you must take home with you. Bring lots of trash bags. Recycling services will NOT be provided at the event. If you wish to recycle, separate your trash in your camp and take it out with you for recycling. Dumpsters that are used by permanent campground residents are not allowed to be used by Recycled Rainbow participants and may be padlocked. This is an agreement that RR has made with the campground owners and if followed strictly, may result in us being asked back again. It is Reecycled Rainbow's intent and mission to leave no trace that the event ever occured and, in fact, to leave the campground in better condition than when we arrived.

ARE THERE SHOWERS/TOILETS/ELECTRICITY/WATER?

There are showers this year- and electricity available to about 15 campsites. There is drinkable water at each electricity location. There are public flush toilets- and there will also be one or two porta-potties so you dont have to walk all the way to the restrooms. The porta-potties will be serviced during the event to keep them sanitary.

NO COMMERCE:
NO VENDING, ADVERTISING OR PROMOTION OF PRODUCTS

Recycled Rainbow is an environment free of commerce. There will be no vendors selling anything- no food, alcohol, souveniers, batteries etc... The only thing for sale will be ice, because it is impossible to truck ice in or make it on site, and firewood due to the Emerald Ash Borer Beetle. Ice and firewood are available from the campground owners for the following price:

PRICES FOR ICE AND FIREWOOD COMING SOON

Firewood is $5 for a bundle of 15 pieces
Ice is $1.50 a bag

WE ARE GUESTS:
RESPECT PERMANENT RESIDENTS AND NON RR CAMPERS

The Recycled Rainbow public area shares a large clearing of land with guests who camp year-round and during the summer. These residents include children and people who have not asked for us to join them but have shown a great deal of interest and curiosity in our event. Because we respect our neighbors and because we are their neighbors we ask that all RR participants respect their own camping experience. No public nudity is permitted anywhere in the public camping area. Offensive behaivor toward any campground resident is grounds for your ticket to be revoked and you to be removed from the event. While we have been given permission to be as loud as we want, complaints from permanent campground residents will be handled by Recycled Rainbow Patrol Personel. You may be asked to turn the volume of your equipment down. Persons wishing fewer restrictions should consider camping in the wilderness area. There is no electricity, water or public restrooms in the wilderness area.

FIRE SAFETY

Recycled Rainbow participants camping in the public camping area will have clearly marked fire pits in which to keep camp fires. You are responsible for your own fire safety. Recycled Rainbow Patrollers will be happy to assist you with questions you have regarding fire safety with open camp fires. Keep your tent at least 10 feet from a fire pit. Keep a bucket of water near at all times. Do not leave a fire burning unattended. If you are planning to build a large fire please contact Reecycled Rainbow before doing so. Fire performers are encouranged by the North American Fire Arts Association to carry fire performance insurance. Anyone wishing to build art installations that include fire effects must contact Recycled Rainbow no later than August 29, 2007.

SOUND

Recycled Rainbow is in some ways a very sound-intensive event. The RR organizers have sought out an environment where participants can express themselves as fully as possible. With this in mind know also that there are permanent residents on the public campground area and it is their impression of Recycled Rainbow that will either have us invited back or be asked to leave. If a permanent resident has an issue with sound volumes, Patrollers will give you plenty of warning before it becomes an issue. Participants wishing more freedom with their sound installations should consider setting up in the wilderness area.

FIREWORKS

Use of fireworks or explosives at the event site is prohibited. Fireworks could not only injure and burn people it can cause a fire and destroy property. Anyone caught lighting fireworks may be escorted out of the event.
