A theme camp is a camp or collection of camps that centers itself around offering an interactive experience to its visitors. Theme camps are generally centered around a theme. Themes that work best are simple ones that revolve around a simple concept that is easily understandable by everyone or that provides an activity or service that people easily understand. Theme camps should provide a visual ambiance and communal activity space.
Theme camps can offer a wider range of ambiance and activity. Depending on attendance, electric and water utilities may or may not be provided at camp locations. To help you get a location you require, you are encouraged to register your theme camp prior to the event. Registering your camp will also allow Recycled Rainbow to include your camp in the guide that will be available at the gate for arriving participants.
Theme camps need not be restricted to the public area only. The deepcycle dome theme camp, for instance last year was to be located in the wilderness area and to provide a dance club and tea house completely powered off renewable energy resources for those wishing to make the hike to the far reaches of the grounds.
Theme camps are required to follow the same guidelines as everyone else, they are required to pack out everything they pack in and are responsible for any structures they build.

Life is sweet!
Laura Red’s Open Paint
5 or 6 blank canvases, a couple of brushes, and alot of paint = fun for anyone that comes along. Basically, anyone (yes, even you) can come over to this camp, pick up a paintbrush, and go to town however much or little you like. When you don’t want to paint anymore, just put the brush down and be on your merry way.
As the day goes on, the paintings will mutate as more people come and add to them. I’ll be taking pictures of these phases by the hour, and then when I get home I’ll upload the photos as sort of a “flip book”.
Mind Control Cookie Camp
As part of the Mutant Food and Beverage Service, Mind Control Cookie Camp will be providing delicious freshly-baked cookies and other sweet treats at various times throughout Recycled Rainbow. Baked with lots of love and a secret mind control recipe (nothing illegal), our cookies will revive and awaken the curious creative inner-child and rinse out the systematic brainwash of the machine we all live within. Check the on-site schedule to find out the best times to get your cookie fix.
Rising From the Ashes - the Phoenix Project Prayer Tent
This will be a camp where people can explore the spiritual side of recycled rainbow through prayer and celebration. We will be providing opportunities for people to pray through art, music, sound, and silence (earplugs provided). Throughout the event we will be encouraging people to take some time to rest and relax in the spirit of the event. We will also be providing a place where people can take a break from the intensity with a bowl of soup or a hot cup of coffee.
We will be exploring a variety of prayer forms from a variety of traditions - including making mandalas and prayer chains, chanting and meditation, keening, global and local prayer concerns, and even personal prayers with an ordained minister (that’s me, Meredith).
This camp is not intended to evangelize any particular faith tradition, it is our goal to enhance the spirituality of the event by offering a place for people to engage the spirit with intentionality and creativity.
Temple of Bokor
