We have a core group of about 4-6 people that organize and run the event. Putting everything on one person (web site, RRPR, organizing, land, keeping it legal, fufilling the vision, and a ton of other things) is difficult. We have a group of people who are committed to putting a lot of energy and work into it- we always have room for more. If you want to volunteer your time or expertise, you know how to get ahold of us! Email Us at volunteers(at)recycledrainbow(dot)org
Update: We have a lead greeter!
As a greeter you are everyone’s first impression of our temporary community. You sell (or check for) tickets at a checkpoint prior to the campground’s entrance, so you get to introduce newbies to our energy. You also communicate the principle ideas behind this event, camping locations, rest room locations, convey the fact we are *guests* of the campground, and re-iterate the importance of Leave No Trace.

We need safety personel. If you know any crazy EMTs, ER nurses, doctors etc... who like this kind of thing, that would be best. We suspect First Aid is going to be the biggest concern- though emergencies could involve fuel canisters exploding and taking off limbs or burning someone really bad. Also there are other problems that could arise involving people not being responsible with inebriation. We'll need a vehicle in good working order with a full tank of gas to transport people and first aid supplies.
Update: We Need One More Medic!
Medics should have medical training- Registered Nurses or EMTs are most desired. Medics need not be in the medical area all the time. You will be required to carry a radio (of course) when on call. During high population/high-energy moments you may be required to man the medical station (located in the pavillion). The pavillion has electricity and a refridgerator, but we dont know if we can use the fridge yet. It also has several picnic tables. There will be a truck with a full gas tank parked next to the pavillion if you need to transport someone.
This most avant-garde idea in volunteerism was born in 2005 at Burning Man by Recycled Rainbow Camp. The hallmark of every great civilization is the manner in which they handle their biological waste! In an attempt to provide a respectful, pleasant and enjoyable experience in our temporary community, we are seeking one or two people to provide atmosphere and services for the restrooms. Restroom attendants are given the opportunity to create a theme camp in the restrooms themselves, providing lighting, music, inscense and whatever else you would like to provide to promote a pleasant environment demanding respect for the facilities. Providing reminders that "if it didn't come out of your body, don't put it in the potty" and "no moop in the poop" are some examples, but it can go much further! Please notify volunteers(at)recycledrainbow(dot)org to volunteer!
Spotters are our version of BRC Rangers. We are the eyes and ears of the event, talking to people, communicating the freedom and ideas of the event, keeping an eye on safety and encouraging discussion and creativity. They are non-confrontational mediators and the liasons between permanent camp residents and participants.
We are looking for at least three spotters, two shifts of one in the large downtown area near the pond and one in and near the invisible city. We have basically two spotters on friday and noone has volunteered for saturday or sunday.
As a spotter you get to:
Spotting Is For You If...
email spotters(at)recycledrainbow(dot)org and VOLUNTEER NOW to be an RR Spotter!
Earth Guardians. People to ensure that nobody is damaging the grounds- fires, litter, waste disposal, recycling, etc... Some call these "Earth Guardians". Can we light numerous fires and when we leave there's no trace of a fire? No trace of an event? Can we leave the camp area in better shape than when we arrived? YES!
Fire safety. If we end up with fire performers or end up burning a big sculpture- or have people with flamethrowers running around, we'll need fire safety.
PR people. Promoters- people to get the word out. The two most important parts in paying for the land and insurance are gatekeepers (who collect the money/tickets) and PR (who get the people to the gate).
